GLOSS OR MATT FINISH IN FRONT FOILS (POLYCARBONATE AND POLYESTER)

Gloss finish or Velvet finish (textured) are the most common surface finishes in Overlays, Front Panels or Membrane Keypads manufactured with Polyester or Polycarbonate films.

Crespo uses Polyester and Polycarbonate films with these types of finish in manufacturing of Overlays, Front Panels and Membrane Keypads. It is also possible to achieve gloss finish in Polyester or Polycarbonate films originally velvet finish; or velvet finishes in Films originally gloss finish. This can be made by applying special Varnishes where you would like to modify the surface finish.

Clear transparent display windows in Membrane Keypads are a common example, where gloss or anti-glare varnishes are used to modify the surface finish of Overlays and Front Panels, manufactured with Polyester or Polycarbonate films, originally velvet (textured) finish.

“What type of surface finish should I use in the Overlay or Membrane Keypad that I am currently developing?”

Actually, there is not a specific rule to choose the surface finish in Overlays, Front Panels or Membrane Keypads manufactured with Polyester or Polycarbonate films. Every application has different requirements. Besides, the use of varnishes to modify partially the original surface finish in Overlays manufactured in polyester or polycarbonate films, enlarges the range of options.
